The flags

Every flag we could verify.

35 of the 138 identities have a community flag with a settled stripe set; for 26 of them the designer and the date are on record, and the flag page shows both. Two expression terms on this site have a flag too, and they are on the wall below. The other 103 don’t have one everyone agrees on, so they show as a hatched swatch. Inventing a flag for someone else’s identity isn’t ours to do.

How we verify a flag

A settled stripe set, then the record. A flag goes on the wall when the community has settled on one set of stripes. For 26 of the 35 identity flags we can say who drew it and when; where the designer or the date isn’t on record, the flag page says so in plain words rather than guessing.

The most-used stripes when sources disagree. Hex values drift between reproductions. We show the set most sources reproduce, and we note the drift instead of hiding it.

Hatched when there is no consensus. If the community hasn’t settled on one flag, the swatch stays hatched and we don’t invent one. The full method is in our editorial policy.
