Intersex
Intersex, Binary Gender
Intersex is a term used to describe individuals who are born with atypical sex characteristics such as reproductive organs, sexual anatomy, and/or chromosome patterns that do not fit typical male or female definitions. Intersex traits may become apparent at birth or during puberty. Intersex individuals may identify with any sexual orientation or gender identity. It is important to note that the concept of a binary intersex gender identity is not universally accepted within the intersex community.
However, some intersex individuals may identify as male or female, aligning with binary gender categories, despite having intersex traits that do not fit typical definitions of male or female.

Pronouns
It is important to recognize that intersex individuals have diverse experiences and may have different gender identities, and therefore may use a variety of pronouns.
However, it is worth noting that intersex is a physical characteristic rather than a gender identity, and as such, the pronouns that an intersex individual uses may be based on their gender identity rather than their intersex status. Some intersex individuals may use pronouns typically associated with masculinity, such as he/him/his, while others may use pronouns typically associated with femininity, such as she/her/hers. Some may use they/them/theirs pronouns or other non-binary pronouns. It is important to ask each individual for their preferred pronouns and to use those pronouns with respect and accuracy.
Celebrities
Many intersex individuals may not disclose their status publicly due to the stigma and discrimination that they may face. Here are a few examples of celebrities who have publicly identified as intersex:
Hanne Gaby Odiele - fashion model and intersex activist
Pidgeon Pagonis - intersex activist, educator, and speaker
Emily Quinn - intersex activist and documentary filmmaker
Markus Kosonen - Finnish athlete and intersex activist
Valentijn De Hingh - model and television presenter
Tiger Devore - musician, writer, and intersex activist

Mani Bruce Mitchell - Australian artist and intersex activist
Claudia Astorino - writer, educator, and intersex activist

Gender Types
Gender identity is a deeply personal and complex aspect of a person's identity, and it can vary widely from person to person. Some people identify as male, some as female, while others identify as non-binary, genderqueer, or another gender identity.
Gender identity refers to a person's internal sense of their own gender, which may or may not align with the sex they were assigned at birth. In other words, it is a person's subjective experience of their own gender.
Identity & expression
It's important to note that gender identity is not the same as biological sex, which is typically assigned at birth based on physical characteristics. Gender identity is also distinct from gender expression, which refers to how a person presents their gender to the world through clothing, hairstyle, behavior, and other factors.
Respect
It's important to respect and validate each individual's gender identity, regardless of how it may differ from societal expectations or traditional notions of gender. People should be able to express their gender identity in a way that feels authentic to them and should be able to access the rights and protections they need to live fulfilling lives.
